Bob Deans is a national correspondent for Cox Newspapers. A Virginia native, he started out in the news business when he was ten years old, delivering his hometown paper, the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

His first newspaper reporting job was with the Charleston, S.C., Post and Courier. From there he joined the Atlanta Journal-Constitution before becoming the chief Asia correspondent, based in Tokyo, for the paper's parent company, Cox.

In 1992 Deans moved to Washington, where he has covered foreign policy, national security, economic affairs and the White House. He was president of the White House Correspondents Association 2002-2003. He lives in Bethesda, Md., with his wife, Karen, and their three children.
